Lou Brock remembered by fans at Bush Stadium

On Labor Day, St. Louis Cardinal fans stopped by Bush Stadium to remember the late Lou Brock at his statue. Some fans left flowers. Others left Cardinal memorabilia. One fan left two balloons, the number 2 and the number 0, for Brock’s number on the team. Throughout the morning, fans stopped by the statue. They looked and remembered. They took photos of the statue, and themselves in front of it.

Brock passed away on September 6th at age 81.

Lou Brock is still loved

Many of the fans who spoke to me all said how much they loved Brock. Young and old fans admired him, even if they never saw him play. He was known as the “base thief” because of all of the bases he stole during his career. In 1979, Brock became the fourteenth player in Major League Baseball history to reach the 3,000 hits plateau.
